Worn Out Garage Floor Gets a Full Flake Polyurea Coating

Most garage floors we walk into have taken a beating. Stains, cracks, spalling - the concrete has just given up. That's exactly what we were working with here. The surface was worn down and showing its age, which is honestly the most common starting point we see.

Before any coating goes down, the prep work has to be right. We ran the grinder across the entire floor to open up the concrete and give the coating something solid to bond to. Skip this step and the coating will fail. It's that simple. Proper surface prep is what separates a floor that lasts years from one that peels up in months.

For this one, we went with polyurea instead of epoxy. Here's why that matters - polyurea is more flexible than epoxy, which means it handles the natural movement and temperature swings a garage goes through without cracking or delaminating. It's also tougher against impacts and chemicals. In the right space, it's just the stronger call.

On top of the polyurea base, we broadcast a full flake blend across the entire surface. The full flake system isn't just about looks - it adds texture, which gives you grip underfoot, and it hides minor surface imperfections that would show through a solid color. The finished floor is sealed with a topcoat that locks everything in and gives it that clean, low-gloss sheen you can see wall to wall.

The difference between bare concrete and a properly coated floor is hard to overstate. It's easier to clean, more resistant to damage, and honestly just makes the whole space feel more finished.
